Our initial acupuncture visit generally lasts 75 minutes. During that time we review your past medical history as well as take an in depth look at your current reason for seeking treatment. Cupping is a technique that uses small glass, plastic, or silicon cups suctioned to the skin in place, or moved along the skin with oil in order to loosen tight muscles. It is commonly used for acute neck, shoulder, and back pain resulting from tight muscles. Cupping may, or may not, be appropriate for conditions of chronic pain. If the practitioner determines that cupping is not an appropriate treatment for a patient’s pain, a regular deep tissue or acupuncture treatment will be performed instead. CranioSacral therapy (CST) is a gentle treatment approach that works with the natural, self-correcting mechanism of the body and the CranioSacral System (the membranes and fluids that surround the brain and spinal cord) to detect and release restrictions in mobility and enhance function. The rhythmic movement of the CranioSacral System can be palpated and used to determine the core issues so that treatment can focus on the cause rather than the symptoms. Clients often report a sense of deep relaxation during and after the treatment session. Wear comfortable clothing. Disrobing is not required for this therapy.
